A royal expert is speaking out this week to warn that she feels Prince Harry is being “exploited” in the United States for ratings.
“Going over to America, the other side of the coin you could say is that there is a degree of exploitation going on,” said royal expert Camilla Tominey. “The Americans are rubbing their hands together with glee, they know this man is quite damaged, disenfranchised from his family. I know they have a living to earn and they are seeking financial independence in America, but let’s just handle all of this with care.”
The U.K. Express reported that Tominey added that both Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have struggled.
“They both had a difficult time, neither of them has a particularly good relationship with a large portion of their families, and then you got people hosting podcasts thinking, ‘Brilliant, this will get the ratings.’”
This comes after Harry spoke out to say that he has “unresolved trauma” as he prepares to launch a mental health series with Oprah Winfrey. The Sun reported that “The Me You Can’t See” will be premiering on Apple TV+ on May 21 after it was delayed due to a combination of Megxit and COVID-19 restrictions. After the show was announced, Harry expressed hopes that it will show that “there is power in vulnerability.”
“We are born into different lives, brought up in different environments, and as a result are exposed to different experiences,” he said. “But our shared experience is that we are all human. The majority of us carry some form of unresolved trauma, loss, or grief, which feels – and is – very personal.”
“Yet the last year has shown us that we are all in this together and my hope is that this series will show there is power in vulnerability, connection in empathy, and strength in honesty,” Harry continued.
A statement released about the show stated that Harry and Oprah will “guide honest discussions about mental health and emotional well-being” while opening up about “their own mental health journeys and struggles” throughout the series. They have teamed up with fourteen experts and organizations to “shed light on different pathways to treatment.”
“Now more than ever, there is an immediate need to replace the shame surrounding mental health with wisdom, compassion, and honesty,” said Oprah. “Our series aims to spark that global conversation.”
